Deep Valley Tree Farm
Cornus florida (White Flowering Dogwood)
The White Flowering Dogwood is a favorite ornamental tree, especially so for its delicate white spring flowers, which are often seen growing wild in woods and forests. It prefers climate zones 5 - 9, and has simple, opposite leaves, which are deciduous. They measure 3 - 6 inches in length, and are about 1.5 - 2 inches in width. It grows 15 - 30 feet in height, with a spread of 20 feet or so. The fall leaves are red in color, with bright red clusters of berries. It prefers rich, moist soil, and does well in the shade.
