Magnolia soulangiana (Saucer Magnolia)
This truly delightful tree is a sight to behold in the spring time. It has pink/purple colored flowers, and although they are supposedly ideal in climate zones 4 - 9, we have seen flower damage from frost in zone 6, usually in trees planted in the open. They grow 20 - 30 feet in height, with a spread of much the same. The leaves are 3 - 6 inches in length, and 1.5 - 3 inches in width.
