Deep Valley Tree Farm
Platanus acerifolia (London Planetree, London Sycamore)
This tree grows fairly big, and it is not uncommon to see specimens over 100 feet tall. They were discovered in London, England around the middle of the 17 th century, and were found to be good shade trees. They average 70 - 100 feet in height, with a spread of 65 - 80 feet. The leaves, which resemble maples, are 6 - 7 inches long, and 8 - 10 inches wide. The tree is readily identifiable by the appearance of the bark, both in summer and winter.
