Deep Valley Tree Farm
Quercus alba (White Oak)
The White Oak is the state tree of Illinois, and one of the most handsome oaks. They grow about 100 feet in height, and spread 50 - 80 feet, in zones 3 - 9. The leaves are big, up to 8 inches long, and half as wide. They grow slowly, and even more so as they age. The bark is light grey as shown, and the leaves are dark green, and change to red/purple in the fall. They produce acorns, up to one inch in length.
